Oakville MCM I vs Oakville MCM II

Game Result: MCM I 3 MCM II 0
Last Sunday mornings contest was a battle between two MCM titans for a undisputed spot at the top of the table in the first division. The pitch glimmered with a sheen of moisture fit for the likes of Pato " the Peruvian base runner " Byrne and Phil " love to turn my white shorts green and brown " Kennedy to commit slide tackle after slide tackle.
With the usual bench boss Peter " I'll send me brother instead" Ranells away on head office duties MCM had a familiar face as John " AL you’re not Igor " Gibson was on point to run the line.
The battle started with both teams getting their fair share of the ball, and in the early minutes Chris " The water gun Matrix" Francis broke in on the MCM I goal. Waiting for him was Andrew " I like Chelsea so much I am going to name my Daughter after them" Spencer who turned away the opposing strikers attempt. The hard fought battle continued and at the 20th minute mark Chris " don't want to drink in front of my boss" Burton went up for a header and came down with a bloody wound that would later require 5 stitches and for him to leave the game.
His replacement was none other than Denny " great job on his first beer cooler" O'Rielly who made a nuisance of himself up top.
MCM I would hit the score sheet first as a hard driven ball by Alex " king of the shovel nose pass" Vukcevic found the mohawk holder of Denny O'Rielly and from his head to the back of the MCM II goal the ball went. Five minutes later Vukcevic made an outstanding run into the box only to be taken down by the MCM II defender Nick " member of the Sid Dasilva eye wear collection " Lewis and the PK was awarded. Up to take it making his MCM I return was Ruben " I can use either foot" Flores who calmly struck the ball with his left foot to the inside of the right post and just like that MCM I were up 2 nil and it would remain that way until half time.
MCM II had some opportunities to notch on the score sheet but were unable to hit the target early in the second half. However the strong play at the back by John " how many England jerseys does this guy have?" Steward and Paul " BBQ truck" Kirkland made it tough for the MCM I strike force to break through again. In the midfield, a hard battle was fought and eventually won by the likes of Matt " the running man" Geary, John "master of the midfield" Morgan, Matt " The Vegas show " Braithwaite and Phil " what groin injury? " Ionadi.
At about the 80th minute mark the birds stopped singing and the sun started to shine and time began to stand still as a ball was played from the back up to MCM I's defensive striker Steve " 15 minutes of Fury" Delaney.
Delaney was able to turn his defender leaving him 1 on 1 with the MCM II net minder Gregg " My wife wants to know how to make the Thursday nighter " Marshall. After two quick touches to gauge the keepers position Delaney calmly placed the ball into the bottom right corner and with that the final nail and 3-0 victory.
One of the classiest contest of the season by both teams and the rematch promises to be just as entertaining and the battle even harder. The Final 3-0 MCM I

Oakville MCM III vs Ebony I

Game Result: MCM III 0 Ebony I 2
On this soggy Sunday morning, MCM III travelled deep into the heart of Malton for a date with Ebony I.
After a 20 minute delayed start due to a soggy pitch, rain & thunderstorm....the teams took the field for a shortened 2X35 mins match.
In our first encounter with Ebony I, MCM struggled early and often to match their speed up the middle of the park and on their back four. Ebony opened the scoring with some good passing inside 25 yards to strike the ball from the open man inside the far post.
MCM came close to responding on several occasions which included a crossbar on a crisp attempt from Mike Gentile on a great pass from Anthony Giglio to spring him in the clear. Another strong challenge from Mike Ward in the 6 yard box that could not find the back of the goal. Sal Borgh had a glorious free kick opportunity turned away by their keeper on an athletic save.
A questionable missed offside call from the official saw Ebony go ahead 2-0 for good. Final Score 2-0.
Special Mention to Jason Watts who made some key saves to keep MCM in the match to the end.
We will find a way to reverse the score on the second leg in Oakville which will promise to be a spirited affair.

Oakville MCM United vs Orly

Game Result: MCM United 3 Orly 6
The pitch remained in a swamp like condition for this week’s MCM United match.
Up to face them was the Polish side Orly thirsty for revenge after the 2-1 loss to United last time. The Polish squad drew first blood due to some lack luster defense as again the MCM back 4 tried to play the offside call which is no better than a 50/50 gamble with no lines people.
The polish winger broke down the wing and struck a near post shot the beat Jason " the man with the bug spray" Watts. Minutes later however off a corner Kick from Ruben " I forgot my jersey is with Maurcio so I wore a Man city Jersey instead " Flores to the head of Phil " hey baby I think you should move our baby" Kennedy.
Phil made great contact and just like that it was 1-1. Moments later MCM had yet another set piece from Phil " the 83 minute Man" Ionadi just outside the 18 yard box. Another great ball in by him to the back of Denny " where did my mohawk go?" O'Rielly past the Orly keeper and into the goal. The score was now 2-1 United.
More battle raged with MCM having much of the play and fending off the counter attack. At about the 30 minute mark United won another corner kick, and this time Jessie " I'm gonna put my hand in the air like the statue of liberty before I take it" Geisel was there to take it. The corner landed to the head of Kennedy who knocked it down to the pitch where waiting was Steve " I’ll try not to blast this into the bushes" Delaney who trapped and spun around and knocked the ball in the bottom corner from just inside the 18 yard box. And there we have 3-1 MCM.
United seemed to take their foot off the gas at this point and a key Injury to Drew " Go and build it mon" Patient had the MCM back 4 scrambling and the Polish drew even and then went up 1 goal on the counter attack before the half. Into the second half the polish appeared to be too strong as they had most of the play and attacked again and again. They notched 2 more goals and never looked back, they attached with youth and speed. The Final Score was 6-3 for Orly. Spectators were saying that this is the strongest of the 3 polish sides in the league!!!
